T.I.G.E.R. Dads
Join T.I.G.E.R. Dads!
Totally Involved Guardians Empowering and Reinforcing Dads are fathers, grandfathers, uncles and other father-figures who volunteer at school. Activities may include, but not limited to; assisting in the classroom. Help with setup and/or transition of lesson plans such as reading, flash cards, etc. Accompany students to recess and engage in positive play such as basketball, catch, etc.
Engage in positive conversations while you enjoy lunch with students. Assist with school safety as an extra set of eyes and ears. Observe activity at the school entrances and hallways, and assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities.
Primary Goals of the T.I.G.E.R. Dads Program:
To provide positive male role models for students, reinforcing the importance of education
To provide extra set of eyes and ears to enhance school security
To provide support to students in their pursuit to
R.O.A.R. (Responsible, Ownership, Always Safe, Respectful)
WHAT IS T.I.G.E.R.?
T
otally
I
nvolved:
Students gain a positive male role model. Some students do not have a father-figure present in their home and the number of male teachers has been steadily declining in recent years. More positive male role model involvement is needed in the school setting.
Schools gain an extra set of eyes and ears. The presence of T.I.G.E.R. Dads can increase a sense of security at the building for staff and students and it helps enhance an environment conducive to learning.
Your "Total Involvement" pays dividends in many exciting and positive ways.
G
uardians:
Studies by the U.S. Department of Education have demonstrated that a positive adult male role model has a positive impact on the development and educational success of a child. As a "Guardian" you dramatically increase a child's likelihood of advancement.
E
mpowering:
Fathers and father-figures can effectively "empower" a student by spending meaningful time with them in a school setting. Volunteering just a few hours as a T.I.G.E.R Dad will have a positive impact on a student's life.
R
einforcing:
When T.I.G.E.R. Dads invest a day at school, they can learn how to partner with the school in order to "reinforce" the educational goals of students.
